What’s this for?
Gmail groups all replies with their original message, creating a single conversation. In our old system, Outlook, responses appear as separate messages in your inbox, forcing you to wade through all your mail to follow the conversation. In Gmail, replies to emails (and replies to those replies) are displayed in one place, in order, making it easier to understand the context of a message — or to follow the conversation.
1. You can identify Conversations by a number in brackets next to an email. See below:
2. When you click on this message you will see the trail of emails sent back and forth on one page. The latest email will always show on top. You can click on ” older messages ” as indicated in screenshot to show the previous emails. To see more click on the “Expand All” button circled in the screenshot.
If you would like emails to be individually separated in your inbox and turn off Conversations, follow these procedures:
4. Click on the “cog” on the upper right and then on “Settings”
5. Look down the page and find “Conversation View“. Turn to off
